Reestablishing Art as Civic Experience

theR.A.C.E. is a

community-driven

professionally-produced

theatrical experience

that is part-community event, part-town hall, and part-play exploring what democracy and civic leadership really mean to Detroiters, beyond the stump speeches and spin.

A professional ensemble of Detroit-based artists are spending August and September engaging in meaningful, place-based (and joyful!) civic conversations with communities across the city.

From those conversations, we'll create a unique theatrical experience leading up to, on, and following the Nov 3rd Election.

This is a multi-pronged exploration, discovery, call, and response about what Detroit has, wants, and needs from local and national civic leaders leading up to, on, and after the Presidential Election.
